In this course, you may explore the latest trends in make-up and hairstyling while building a strong foundation in the field. We'll prepare you for a career in theatre and creative media, equipping you with the necessary skills to excel.

• minimum of one Higher, ideally in Art or English
• relevant course at SCQF Level 6 or equivalent
• hairdressing experience is a beneficial and occupationally relevant skill

If you don’t have formal qualifications but have appropriate experience or training, then we’ll also consider you for a place, so please do apply.

In this course, you'll have the opportunity to:

• learn hairstyling and make-up techniques for the 20th century: including costume sourcing
• explore the art of ageing make-up for TV and theatre: using industry-relevant techniques
• master special effects make-up: including creating cuts, bruises, and lacerations
• prosthetic skills by sculpting: creating moulds and fitting prosthetic pieces
• build a portfolio that covers the roles and responsibilities of a production team: script marking, and creating practical makeup and hairstyles for performances

You'll also gain valuable practical experience through:

• work placements: in local theatre productions, fashion shows, film sets, and photo shoots
• volunteering in the community: offering services like prom make-up or face painting
• participating in competitions: such as World Skills and Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT)
• learning from industry suppliers: and guest Make-Up Artists through demonstrations.
