Entry Requirements

Candidates should have some prior knowledge of numeracy, ICT and communication to SCQF level 6, although formal qualifications may not be necessary if suitable experience had been gained informally or through work experience.

Course Content

  • Cost Accounting:  Develop your knowledge of costing techniques that may be used within a cost accounting department.  Develop your skills to maintain a working accounting system for classifying and recording cost accounting information for inventory valuations, job costing and profit measurement.
  • Management Accounting using Information Technology:  Learn how to provide timeous, meaningful, and well-presented financial information to support control and decision making within an organisation.

Next Steps and Career Opportunities

On completion of this course, you may:

  • progress to an HNC such as Accounting, Business, and Administration and IT
  • build your qualification part-time towards a full HNC by undertaking further PDAs and/or HN units
  • start a career in the accounts department of various businesses
