Ayr Photography students have a right to be ‘proud.’
NC Photography students at Ayrshire College launched an end-of term exhibition which opened on 13 May at the Ayr Campus.
The students organised an exhibition in their Essential Skills class; a collaborative project for their semester two ‘Working with Others’ unit, deciding on ‘Pride’ as their theme. The students wanted to convey the notion of ‘pride’ and to express what the idea means to them in their photography.
As part of the class fundraising efforts, a sponsored walk, complete with rainbow coloured ‘pride’ sashes, was organised by photography student Anna Williams, with a total of £290 raised for the charity MIND so far.
Anna, who plans to progress to HNC Photography at Ayrshire College said “we chose this charity as most people experience struggles with mental health, and I feel this links to ‘Pride’.
About the exhibition, photography student John Atkins said, “I’m excited and proud to have my first ever photo in an exhibition, so the theme ‘Pride’ for this one is so relevant.”
Essential Skills Lecturer, Kerrin Carr commented, “Ayr’s NC Photography are a creative and dynamic group of students who have collaborated with positive enthusiasm to create their first exhibition. They should be extremely proud of their own progress and achievements. With resilience, integrity and determination, the class have worked well together to produce a visually striking exhibition and fundraised for a very worthwhile mental health charity.”
