HDS Hair joins forces with Ayrshire College

A Glasgow hair & beauty wholesaler has teamed up with Ayrshire College to help educate and inspire students.

HDS Hair, which launched this year, is now supplying exclusive products to the college’s hairdressing curriculum area and providing education workshops across its campuses in Ayr, Kilmarnock and Kilwinning.

HDS - co-founded by former Dragons Den contestant Kieran Cannon - aims to become the most customer-centric and community-focused supplier in the hair industry by providing support and inspiration, training and education to salon owners, hairdressers and hair enthusiasts, as well as providing products that are great quality, great value and ethical.

The team has been mentored by senior executives from some of the world’s best known retail companies including Amazon and Shopify and have plans to disrupt the status quo with their fresh ideas.

With the exclusive rights to distribute leading European brand FarmaVita within Scotland, HDS is now supplying FarmaVita’s most popular products to the hairdressing curriculum area at Ayrshire College. The HDS team is also running education sessions, in collaboration with FarmaVita expert educator Marina Hayes, giving students a chance to learn directly from industry professionals.

Kieran Cannon said: “Everything we do is centred around educating and supporting hair professionals like these amazing students at Ayrshire College. As well as providing great value products that helps ensure the college gets best value for money, we are delighted to be able to educate and inspire the students through the workshops with our partner brand FarmaVita.

“The team at the college are a pleasure to work with and it means so much to us to be involved in the early education and development of students in the hairdressing curriculum area, who are the future of the hair industry. Part of our wider mission is to help ensure there’s a thriving, connected hair community for them to join when they leave college.”

Angela Sheridan, Head of Learning & Skills for Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy, Complementary Therapies & Make-up Artistry at Ayrshire College, said: “We are delighted to welcome HDS to our supplier family. Ayrshire College places our staff and students at the heart of everything we do, and the team at HDS have really listened and helped us to do that. We work closely with all of our suppliers, and really look forward to continuing to build our relationship with HDS.”

“Working together on promoting sustainable practices and creative educational approaches, will prepare our students well for the industry of the future.”

HDS has an online store as well as a large state-of-the-art retail store in Glasgow’s west end, complete with an education space, a runway and inspiration hub. For more information, visit www.hds.hair
