Ayrshire College hosts artificial intelligence event

Ayrshire College hosted an event at its Kilmarnock Campus on Tuesday 6 June entitled ‘Let’s Talk AI’, that looked at the potential of artificial intelligence.

Guests who signed up for the session were keen to hear how AI could be used within their organisations and their sectors.

Nuala Boyle, Head of Business Growth at Ayrshire College, opened the event by setting the scene in relation to the importance of AI to all business sectors and the potential benefits and added value that can be derived particularly in relation to boosting productivity and efficiency.
Guest speakers from the College included Randell Maree, Associate Trainer, Russell Wilson, Head of Digital Integration, Aileen Jamieson, Digital Skills Trainer and Michelle Wallace, Digital Marketing Team Leader.

They spoke on a range of topics such as the current use of AI in industry, the opportunities and risks of AI, its potential impact on education, how it’s already used in current work practices using the Microsoft suite, and how AI can be utilised in marketing.

Nuala Boyle, Head of Business Growth at Ayrshire College, said: “AI is a disruptor and has the potential to transform and add value to many businesses across diverse sectors. Our event aimed to raise awareness and understanding of the opportunities and tools whilst recognising there are wider ethical, data protection and regulatory implications.
