Eduroam

Eduroam (education roaming) is an international secure wireless (WI-FI) service available to individuals within education and research communities. It allows users to access networks when located in any Eduroam-enabled institution in addition to their own.

Students and staff can access Eduroam wireless network at Ayrshire College campuses.

Benefits of Eduroam

• Eduroam is a free-to-use service.
• Accessing Eduroam only requires an initial one-time set-up.
• After setting up your device to access Eduroam at Ayrshire college, you can connect to the service from other Eduroam-enabled organisations using the same login credentials.
• Eduroam offers higher levels of security in comparison to other unencrypted wireless service providers.

How to Access/Set-Up process

Within Wi-Fi networks, select ‘Eduroam’ network.
Your device will then prompt you to enter login details.

Please Note:
Any device connecting to Eduroam must support WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access 2).
All new Ayrshire College students must ensure that their college account default password has been changed before accessing Eduroam.

Users of Android or Apple devices can also download the ‘geteduroam’ application from Google Play/App Store. The App allows you to check the locations of the Eduroam network

Login and Password

Please use your college network email and password to access Eduroam.
Example: 1234@ayrshire.ac.uk
Some devices only require a single login which means that after successful authentication, your device will login automatically whenever the Eduroam network is available.

Additional info

If you change your college password, you will be required to re-enter the password on your device to continue accessing Eduroam.

If you are a visitor to Ayrshire College and are having issues accessing Eduroam, please contact your home institution ICT support in the first instance. If the ICT team can confirm that the organisation Eduroam profile is operating correctly, please contact Ayrshire College ICT team for further support.
